Allen scores 24 in 26 minutes to lead Utah past Central Arkansas 98-67 at the Huntsman Center
Seventy-two hours removed from an emotional overtime win over BYU, and with a week-long final-exam break on deck, the University of Utah did not play down to its opponent on Saturday afternoon.
The Utes assumed control over Central Arkansas before the first media timeout and never gave it up, cruising to a 98-67 win over the Bears in front of a light, subdued mid-Saturday afternoon crowd at the Huntsman Center.
Utah (7-2) got a game-high 24 points on 9-for-16 shooting in just 26 minutes from Timmy Allen. The sophomore guard, who added eight rebounds and five assists, led six Utes in double figures.
Utah shot 50.7 percent from the floor on Saturday, getting nearly anything it wanted at the rim in finishing with 42 points in the paint.
The Utes moved to 5-0 at the Huntsman Center, in what was their final non-conference home game. They still have Weber State on Dec. 14 at Vivint Smart Home Arena, Kentucky on Dec. 18 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and San Diego State on Dec. 21 at Staples Center in Los Angeles. Utah will open Pac-12 play Jan. 2 against two-time All-Pac-12 guard Tres Trinkle and Oregon State at Huntsman.
