Remains found near Lyman Lake identified as West Virginia hunter
Human remains found by a hunter near Lyman Lake on Monday have been identified as Carl Crumrine of West Virginia, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office reported Thursday.
Crumrine, 69, was reported missing nearly a year ago after he didn’t return from a hunting trip in that area on Oct. 14, 2019. A member of his hunting party contacted the Summit County Sheriff’s Office when Crumrine didn’t return by nightfall. For two days, the sheriff’s office and Summit County Search and Rescue conducted a search for Crumrine that ultimately proved unsuccessful.

Crumrine’s remains, clothing, rifle and survival pack were found about a mile from where he had made camp. The area is in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest in eastern Summit County and is densely wooded with many fallen trees.
